I am the grandmother of 5, 2 of them were premature. The first, a little girl named Ava was born at 26.5 weeks, weighing just 1 lb 15 oz. Our second was a little boy named Cash who arrived 8 weeks early, weighing in at 5 lbs. Ava spent nearly 3 months in the NICU where due to circumstances, I was present nearly 24/7. Cash spent a month in the NICU. So I have a combined experience of nearly 4 months in the NICU.
I know how difficult NICU life is and I want to be able to give something back for the 2 little miracles we were given. I have already been doing so at AvaBaby’s since 2008 and now I would like to offer parents and families of preemies a place to go to gather information about the world that have entered. I will share tips, experiences, what you can expect and hopefully encouragement when ever you need it.
If you or someone else finds themselves in the NICU, I will you will not only use Today’s Preemie, but that you will share what you have found with others.
